Official Obituary of
Robert A. Pettingill
April 25, 1957 ~ April 5, 2018 (age 60)

Robert A. Pettingill, 60, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 5, 2018. A loving husband, adored father, and cherished grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Denise; his son, Corey (Meghan) and grandson, Caleb; his son, Drew (Valarie), granddaughter, Audrey, and grandsons, William and Ryan; his daughter, Megan (Craig); and his daughter, Leah (DJ) and granddaughters, Lily and Zoey. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Pettingill.

When he was just 13, Rob began his career at Wilkinson Farms, later moving to Technivate, Inc., where he spent the majority of his working years operating the red #109 lowboy. Rob believed in hard work and dedicating yourself to a job well done, and there was never a moment he didn’t have a project in his hands or a task on his to-do list. His garage was his castle and his tools were his loyal subjects.

Rob lived for the time he spent with his grandchildren and never failed to have a smile on his face or a Yoo Hoo in his hand when he saw them. A Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, he enjoyed summers at the beach with his family, fishing off the rocks, and creating nicknames for everyone in his life.

Rob was a funny, joyful, and energetic man, well loved by everyone. He was a beacon of determination, courage, and strength, and will be missed more than words can express.

Family and friends may visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, Delaware 19808 on Wednesday, April 11 from 4:00-7:00PM.
